Passionate about change, Cec created the Slenky platform, brand and the concept of ‘Shots’ (opportunities) to better understand how we connect two key audiences seeking, but not finding one another - business and young people.
Cec grew up on a London council estate. His 30-year career across various sectors before moving to tech, have provided a combination of lived and professional experiences that help shape his approach to addressing outdated norms. He believes firmly that tech can and should drive social change and business benefit.
From concept and through extensive testing, Cec has focused on creating a product for a future landscape where an individual’s passions drive the search for opportunity, and content enables meaningful, and mutually rewarding engagement. Slenky’s test platforms have been nominated for awards, including the global MMA (Mobile Marketing Association) ‘Smarties’ Awards.
Cec’s vision is to give all young people increased options, and the tools to explore the businesses and access the opportunities on offer in their local or other ecosystems. Simultaneously, he seeks to address key business communication problems, ethically using Slenky’s rich and unique data, not to sell products, but to drive increased engagement between two hugely diverse audiences.
He is particularly keen that traditionally remote brands and high-earning sectors become accessible to more diverse audiences. It is through this approach that past Slenky users are building successful careers, and businesses in sectors ranging from advertising, tech, aviation, music, sport, and fashion.
Cec has recently developed the strategy for Wembley Stadium to engage its local community, supporting its Social Responsibility, Diversity and Inclusivity and Talent strategies. He is also supporting UK councils’ digital transformation; including a partnership with Brent Council to create ‘Take Your Shot Studios,’ a free co-working space for diverse digital entrepreneurs, in the commercial heart of Wembley Park.
